Pilgrimage to Rome

Recently our Prior Administrator led a parish and community pilgrimage to Rome. Parishioners from both of our Parishes (Our Lady Immaculate, and Holy Name, Chelmsford) were joined by Fr Hugh, Br Stephen and Br Pius, as well as Fr Anthony Homer and Sisters Caroline, Wendy and Jane from the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.

It was an excellent pilgrimage, and a delightful mix of fervent devotion, cultural discovery and friendly enjoyment. We were particularly blessed to have had Giorgio Morganti as our guide, who had been such an expert on our last parish pilgrimage to Padua. There were so many highlights, including seeing the four patriarchal basilicas of Rome, the Sistine Chapel, and spending a moment of prayer in front of many relics of well-known saints. And as for the wonderful Italian food and sunshine… we were truly blessed!

A special moment for us all was a visit to the Norbertine Generalate, where we were warmly welcomed by the Rector and celebrated Mass in the Chapel, which houses the relics of Blessed Hugh of Fosses, first Abbot of our Order. A superb finale to what was a fantastic pilgrimage to the Eternal City, and to the feet of the Prince of the Apostles. The
joyous singing of “God Bless our Pope” is still ringing in our ears…

God bless Pope Benedict!
