In the canonry recently we were privileged to have stay with us John Coats a pilgrim from Boulder, Colorado who is finishing a two-month pilgrimage/cycle ride around the holy sites of England and Scotland. John has been studying education at the University of Michigan, but decided that rather than having a restful or CV enhancing summer he would spend it cycling around England collecting people’s stories; stories of heroism, conversion, life, faith and everything, for a project called OneBillionStories.
OneBillionStories is an American initiative of the New Evangelisation, following the Holy Father’s call for young people to evangelise the digital continent.
We sent John on his way to London (where he will finish his pilgrimage) with the blessings of Our Holy Father Norbert and our prayers for a safe and pleasant journey. We also sent him on after a hearty Norbertine breakfast for his long journey.
It was a pleasure to meet a passing pilgrim, and as the Year of Faith draws closer, which the Holy Father has said will be a time to re-commit to the New Evangelisation, it caused me to wonder what we are doing for the Year of Faith. So I pass that question: what are you going to do in/for the Year of Faith?
