On 7th September, the eve of Our Lady’s Nativity, His Eminence Cormac Cardinal Murphy O’Connor ordained our brother, Fr. Rupert, to the sacred priesthood of Jesus Christ. The ordination was well attended! We were joined by Norbertine confreres from Leffe (with Br. Tanguy acting as deacon), Strahov and of Queen’s Park, by priests and deacons of our diocese of Brentwood, including Msgr. John Armitage and Msgr. Gordon Read, together with Abbot Cuthbert of Farnborough and Abbot Phillip of Christ in the Desert Monastery, monks of Douai, St. Meinrad and Farnborough, a Dominican friar from Ireland, priests and sisters from the Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham, a sister of the Franciscan Sisters of the Eucharist, Oratorians from Oxford and London, including Fr. Rupert’s spiritual director Fr. Ronald Creighton-Jobe, priests, religious and friends from Oxford, London, Belgium, Ireland, the United States and elsewhere and many parishioners from our two parishes here in Chelmsford. The choir sang wonderfully; Elgar’s Ecce Sacerdos, Rutter’s This is the Day, Palestrina’s Sicut Cervus, Stanford’s Ye Choirs of New Jerusalem and Mozart’s Missa Brevis in D major.
Please keep Father Rupert in your prayers.
