First Vespers of OHF Augustine and the Clothing of Br. Gregory Davies

As we celebrated First Vespers of the Solemnity of Our Holy Father Augustine this evening we were also delighted to have the clothing of a new novice for our community: Simon Davies from St Neots, who received the religious name of Br Gregory in honour of Pope St Gregory VII. Pope St Gregory VII was a great and zealous pontiff who sought to reform the clergy and return appropriate lustre to the Faith; it was the Gregorian reform of the clergy in the 11th century that was taken up by OHF Norbert as he reformed the canonical life and founded our order.

Please pray for Br Gregory as he begins his novitiate, for Br Stephen, one of our juniors, who is to be solemnly professed tomorrow, and for all our brothers in formation.

Almighty Father, raise up abundant and holy vocations to the Order of Prémontré. Send us good and holy souls who will keep the Faith alive and guard the blessed memory of Our Holy Fathers Augustine and Norbert. Send us ardent yet gentle men who through the preaching of Christ’s word and the administration of the Sacraments may continually renew your faithful. Grant us holy ministers of your altar who will be careful and fervent guardians of the Eucharist; lifting high the Blessed Sacrament above all the errors and miseries of the world. Amen.
